A street whore in Paris is taken home to her native Argentina by an in love rich landlord. Yvonne is a street courtesan in Paris. One night she meets a client, Jorge, a wealthy Argentine rancher, who falls in love with her and offers to take her back to his homeland. She accepts, and the two move to Jorge's ranch in the Argentine pampas, where they live a life of complete happiness, assisted by their faithful butler, Manolo. A young farmhand, Lorenzo, works at the ranch and quietly falls in love with Yvonne. During a dressage festival, Jorge suffers an accident that leaves him paralyzed and impotent, with no chance of satisfying the fiery Yvonne. While taking a horseback ride through the ranch, Yvonne meets Lorenzo, and an intense relationship develops between them that leads them to become lovers. Jorge falls ill and dies. After the painful loss, Yvonne decides to return to Paris, causing suffering to Lorenzo, who steals a gift from a shop to give it to her as a farewell, but on the way to the train station, he is arrested by the police.
