`Basanta Utsav` is Rhitobrata Bhattacharya`s debut film. This Bengali romance is a story of love, desire and relationships during Holi celebrations in Santiniketan. The film interweaves five stories which explore various facets of love, namely, the crisis, the meaning, the quest, the emptiness and the desire. One story centers around a boy and girl who fall in love during the course of Basanta Utsav, the second story centers around a housewife`s extramarital affair with her neighbor. The third story centers around a students affair with a married man. The later two stories center around 2 families.
