Omi Khurana's (Kunal Kapoor) London dream has just ended. Omi was a pimp to high class escorts in pubs and was not above stealing money from them to pay for his extravagant lifestyle. A dangerous UK gangster Shanty (Manish Makhija) who he owes money to, has asked Omi to return to his native village in Punjab to get the 50,000 pounds he needs to repay Shanty's debt. Omi lost the money in various schemes related to real estate or the stock market. Shanty threatens to shoot Omi unless has a realistic plan to return the money. Omi's plan is to get the money from his family Dhaba which is famous all over Punjab. Omi pretends to be a well-heeled London lawyer. Much has changed since Omi ran away from home in Lalton Village, Punjab a decade back after stealing money (Rs 6 Lakhs) from his doting grandfather, Darji (Vinod Nagpal). Omi's parents have already passed away. The old man has since become senile and most importantly, forgotten the secret recipe of "Chicken Khurana" a dish that made the Khurana Dhaba (restaurant) famous across Punjab. Due to this the Dhaba has been defunct & all the business gone to a rival Dhaba owned by Kehar Singh (Vipin Sharma). Dalidri (Anjum Batra) is the house servant. Hemraj (Rajendra Sethi) is Omi's Chacha and Lata (Seema Kaushal) is his Chachi. Omi's childhood sweetheart, Harman (Huma Qureshi) is soon to be married to his cousin (Hemraj and Lata's son), Jeet (Rahul Bagga), though neither seems so happy about it. Harman is angry at Omi for abandoning her 10 years ago. Harman is a doctor now and is taking charge of Daarji's treatment at home. It is implied that Jeet is impotent & is hence always looking for reasons to delay the wedding to Harman. Although the real truth is that Jeet loves the widow of an army Jawan named Shama Chatterjee (Anangsha Biswas) & has a daughter with her. In childhood, Omi had accidentally hurt Jeet in his left eye and now Jeet is blind in that eye. Omi apologizes profusely to Jeet, who has already moved on and readily forgives Omi. Daarji believes that a crow that visits the family home has the spirit of his dearly departed wife Muskaan (Nimrat Kaur). It is shown that in his younger days Daarji used to cook chicken for Muskaan using a special Chooran, which he would mix in the chicken, giving it its trademark flavor. It was Muskaan who suggested Daarji to open a Dhaba. Hemraj is skeptical about Omi's intentions and believes that he has returned only to steal more money from the house. Harman is angry with Omi since he never called her in 10 years, while Omi retorts that it was Harman who proposed and not him. He says that they were good friends, and it was Harman who got sentimental and had he rejected the proposal, they would never have stayed friends. Adding to the quirkiness of the Khurana family is a free loader uncle, Titu Mama (Rajesh Sharma), who once did a stint at a mental asylum. Omi's grandfather has a cousin sister Bua Ji (Dolly Ahluwalia) who ran away from home at early age and is now a saint. Omi tries to steal money again from the house locker and from the locker in Jeet's tractor dealership office but finds none. Meanwhile Shanty even calls Omi's home in the village and threatens him to get the money quickly, else he will expose his reality. Titu tries to connect with Omi and says that he also had a friend. They used to visit the mental asylum to get electric shocks and had made plans to have sex with girls of every nationality around the world. But he recounts sadly, that his friend betrayed him and left him behind. Harman's brother Lovely (Mukesh Chhabra) is a budding real estate agent & hints to Omi that he had suggested a deal to sell the Dhaba to the family, which was rejected by Daarji. Daarji dies on his last visit to his restaurant. In his will Daarji leaves the Dhaba to Omi. Omi immediately approaches the Dhaba's rival Kehar, who offers him Rs 1 Crore if he gives him the recipe to chicken Khurana. Omi asks for Harman's help to recreate the recipe, but he tells her that it is to restart the Dhaba. Omi interviews a lot of Daarji's colleagues & friends to figure out the recipe. Harman & Omi come close during the cooking sessions. Harman kisses Omi. Then one day Buaji decides to come back home with her entourage. That night Omi finds Buaji entering Daarji's room at night & fiddling. The next morning, she bonds with Omi & reveals that she was looking for Daarji's medicine chest, which Omi had. Omi finds that Buaji takes Daarji's digestion Churan & rolls it into a cigarette. The Churan was nothing but pot & the secret ingredient to Daarji's chicken Khurana. The Cigarette accidentally falls into a cauldron of chicken & that's how Omi figures out the recipe. Omi goes to sell the Dhaba but backs out at the last minute & decides to restart the Dhaba. That night Omi confesses the truth to his family & is welcomed with open arms. The same night Jeet confesses his love for the widow & his inability to marry Harman. Jeet's mother decides to marry Harman off to Omi. Both Omi & Harman accept. Shanty arrives to collect his debt but is confronted by Titu. Turns out Titu and Shanty were friends in the mental asylum. Shanty forgives Omi.
