A university professor is supposed to meet his wife for a vacation in a mansion in Southern France. On the long drive there he has picked up his step-daughter he has not seen for a long time. She appears to be mute, since she never speaks, however hard he tries to establish "contact". When they arrive, she still does not speak; but she begins to lure him.
