The documentary shows the extraordinary phenomenon of the large-scale national "Viburnum Viburnum" competition, in which prisoners from all over Russia sing their way to victory with songs about longing, war, love and forgiveness. Out of over 700,000 inmates, only thirty can take part in the grand final. The camera follows their struggles and first attempts from the very beginning, and also discovers the true stories that inspired the song lyrics. —G
