The movie "Emigrants" is a sort of protest against what is currently happening in Lithuania; the emigration problem affects every family. In the film, irony and humor reveal a healthy yet heartbreaking family tragedy. A young, promising girl, Monika, plans to start her designer career at home. Her boyfriend Linas, who lives with his grandmother because his parents emigrated to England, helps make her dreams come true. Monica's sister Ugne is convinced that only abroad can she create her promised perfect life. However, the girls' father, a writer who lost his job and became disappointed in the state, receives a good offer to work as a newspaper editor in London. The family must move to Great Britain, which painfully affects Monica and Linas's destinies. That fateful summer leaves a scar on Monica's heart-one she has to live with for the rest of her life.
