God fall from the sky
Their names are recognizable members of Asbury Park's music, art, and culture and now a series of vignettes pays homage to a dozen creatives whose artistry helped form a local resurgence. Conceived and Produced by Adam Nelson, Local Legends, directed by William DeVizia and Michael Lucio Sternbach, is a series of shorts that captures the spirit and stories of those who live, work, and create within city limits. From Asbury Lanes Founder Mel Stultz, Parlor Gallery's Jenn Hampton and Filmmaker/DJ Atom Worth to Photographer Danny Clinch, Wooden Walls artist Pork Chop, LGBTQ activist Geena Alessia Buono, and Renaissance Woman Tina Kerekes, the shorts spotlight a set of pioneers who helped expand the defining spirit that makes Asbury Park an attractive destination. Each of 12 shorts runs between three to five minutes and is bookended by iconic shots of the city's architecture and landscape, setting the scene for their compelling narratives. The mini-documentaries feature local talent for the soundtrack and musical scoring, which fall in line with their aim to make the shorts the ultimate postcards of the city. Also featured are artist Neil O'Brien, Wonder Bar's Lance Larson, early Springsteen manager Tinker West, famed and now retired Police Lt. George Corbin, and Wooden Walls artist James Vance. LOCAL LEGENDS: Asbury Park is stocked with local and legendary voices who resonate with creativity that is simple, imaginative, and fresh. It is a place that burns with diverse artistic expression, crackles with an authentic, off-center spirit. From the start, Asbury has concentrated on breaking revolutionary new ground through a wellspring of music, gay, and concrete culture. Meet the creators who have made it the center of its own unlike anywhere else in the world. Meet the Local Legends. Presented by Tito's Handmade Vodka. Conceived & Produced by Adam Nelson.
