In My Room
A bored man suddenly realizes everyone around him has disappeared though he isn't sure what happened. Armin is getting too old for his nightlife habits and the woman he likes. He's not really happy, but can't picture living a different life. One morning he wakes up: the world looks the same as always, but mankind has disappeared. - A film about the frightening gift of maximum freedom. —Pandora Film Armin is a moderately successful cameraman in Berlin who has somehow lost his footing, both at work and in his social life. His passion is gone. Then he receives the news that his grandmother, who is being cared for by his parents, is dying. So he decides to return to the countryside, because the only thing that really seems important to him is his relationship with his aging parents, which, although not perfect, seems to give him a sense of belonging and connection to the world. Back in his hometown in East Westphalia, Armin wakes up one day to find that his parents - and everyone else in the world - are gone. First confused, then overwhelmed by grief, Armin goes through a period of depression and drives a sports car at breakneck speed through narrow, winding roads. Only one thing brings him peace, something very ordinary, simple, grounded: after losing his human family, he founds an animal family and lives as a small farmer where he spent his childhood. When he suddenly encounters another human being, it throws his new, thoroughly fulfilling life into disarray again. —SRF
