More Than Strangers
A group of strangers travel together in an EV-car from Berlin to Paris. Patrick, who is currently in Berlin, wants to get to his heavily pregnant girlfriend in Paris as quickly as possible. To save money, he offers four people a ride: George, a DJ in Berlin without a valid residence permit; Sophia, a Greek woman fleeing her quick-tempered husband to join their daughter in Paris; Chris, who likes to wander through the world in a hazy state; and Julia, who has just realized that her laid-back young employer is exploiting her in a classic old-fashioned way. As they drive along the same stretches of highway, it quickly becomes clear that the five people in this random carpool have little or nothing in common. When a police patrol wants to check the car, George disappears. The police are suspicious, but can't find anything incriminating. When Patrick wants to get the car back on the highway a little later, George is suddenly back. His lack of a residence permit becomes a common problem, and the question arises as to how supportive the four other travelers are of a sympathetic but also somewhat opaque fellow passenger. —Arte
