When Rajveer (Rishi Kapoor) and Amrit (Rekha) move to Amritsar, Punjab, they adopt the child of the previous house owner who fled due to communal riots. The boy grows up to be Ishaan (Luv Sinha). He falls in love with Chandni (Ferena Wazeir) but when he goes to ask for her hand, her father refuses and says that he shall not marry his daughter to a Hindu. Rajveer and Amrit therefore reveal that Ishaan is not their son is a Muslim. Now begins the search for Ishaan`s biological parents. Do they succeed in their search? What happens when the biological parents meet their abandoned son after decades?
