Dye unravels a web of deception involving various factions, leading to a climactic conclusion. Martin Dye retired private eye, and now a novelist is in town for a prestigious book award. Dye is contacted by wheelchair-bound fan George, who tells him of a car crash 20 years earlier that killed one passenger and severely injured the other passenger, friend and local drug dealer Eddie Grant who just passed away. Money from the crash went missing. Who took it? Where did it go? Eddie talked about it all the time before he died. George asks Dye for help. Dye bored by retirement and intrigued by the tale. Thinks "hell maybe I'll get a story out of it." and agrees to investigate. Soon Dye is swept up in a swirl of past events, 20 years of the deceits and coverups involving drug dealers, bankers, politicians, rock stars, lawyers, priests, and teachers. Where does it end?
