The Perfection
Elisa, 26, works shifts at the local sawmill in rural northern Sweden, but lives for her horses. Together with her mother and father she breeds American Morgan horses at the run-down family ranch just south of the arctic circle, in a small scale business that costs more than it returns. The horses enjoy running water in the stables but in the main building there hasn't been tap water for years. They either can't afford the repair, or more likely make other priorities - a horse might need dental care, they want to buy a new foal or want to attend a horse show. Such a mundane commodity as having running water for a shower can surely wait. In the midst of this Elisa dreams of riding dressage at the highest international level, to measure her self side-by-side with the often wealthy horse elite in the Grand Prix. Having grown up on a horse back she's talented as few, but she's nowhere near the economic means of taking on something like that. And living in the subarctic region snow and cold half the year does little to ease things. One day she is given the opportunity to take over a unridable dressage horse with a winning strain that the breeder could neither sell nor train. Elisa manages to educate the horse herself and after years of hard work the dream seems within reach, when an accident on New Year's Eve seems to ruin everything, leaving her with her dream horse dead and two of her Morgan horses severely injured. After her initial grief Elisa raises from the ashes more dedicated than ever to do what it takes to fulfill her dream. Elisa's Way (Elisa och drömhästen) is a story about living your passion and working through hardship to reach your dreams.
