When 27 students and 7 educators journey from Omaha, Nebraska, to experience the 50th historic Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March, what happens exceeds their expectations. Friendships form, perspectives expand, and all are inspired to have more impact on their Omaha community. Re-enacting the Edmund Pettus Bridge crossing was commemorating a bloody civil rights struggle for African-American people to vote; however, the Omaha 34 journey through the question of "What bridges need to be crossed, NOW?" To students re-enacting the Edmund Pettus Bridge crossing, in 2015, was commemorating a Bloody Sunday struggle for voting rights...but what they experienced in Selma, Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama took them to places of mental and emotional "bridge crossings."
