In German-occupied Netherlands, a teenage boy gets involved in the Dutch resistance after coming to the aid of a wounded RAF pilot. Near the end of World War II, 14-year-old Michiel becomes involved with the Resistance after coming to the aid of a wounded British soldier. With the conflict coming to an end, Michiel comes of age and learns of the stark difference between adventure fantasy and the ugly realities of war. —Pusan International Film Festival Dutch town mayor Johan's rascal son Michiel (14), who dreams of joining the resistance against the Nazis, finds badly leg-wounded parachute-jumped English pilot Jack, hides him and gets his nurse sister to tend his wounds. Michiel must now mistrust everyone, while the Germans find the wreck and parachute and threaten to take innocent hostages, including in-living uncle Ben and Johan.
